Tulips are among the oldest and most popular bulb flowers. They can grow in the same spot for several years. The flowers vary in height (from 15 to 70–80 cm), and the shape of the petals also varies. Early-blooming tulips begin to bloom in April, while late-blooming varieties bloom in the second half of May. The range of flower colors is wide, but the most popular are red, yellow, and pink blooms. Tulips can be planted in large groups, but it’s important to combine them according to height and blooming time. They are planted in a sunny, spacious, well-drained spot in the fall, when the soil temperature drops to +10 degrees. The planting depth for tulips depends on the soil type. In light soil, plant them at a depth of three bulbs; in heavy soil, at a depth of two. They grow best in light, loose garden soil with neutral acidity (pH 6.5–7.5). It is recommended to dig up tulip bulbs every two years. If not replanted, tulips will produce smaller flowers or stop blooming altogether.
