Perennial bulbous flowers. Cultivated in flowerbeds, the inflorescences are harvested when 2 flowers open and 3-4 flower buds are in colour. Grows best in open, sunny, wind-protected, moderately light to loamy soil. During droughts it needs to be irrigated with 3-4 buckets of water per square metre. The same place can be replanted after 4-5 years, soaked for half an hour in a solution of potassium permanganate or 0,2 % fungicide before planting.
IN THE WILD THROUGH WINTER
Dug in the second half of September, the dried onions are stored over winter at a temperature of 4-6 ˚C.
